It is Aiden's birthday in ....

It is Aiden's birthday in about 6 hours time in the precious baby name Aiden was born 14 years ago! Funny thing is we didn't know anything about it!
I have made a collage for his birthday card and will write that shortly!
He has a day full of amazing bits all to do with being 14!
The collage is the year in a rear view mirror!
Well must get some sleep!

What did we do today?

We started the day with some work while Alice sat by my feet at the computer and nearly fell asleep. Everytime she was nearly asleep or I thought she was I would get the camera and then this beaming smile would be returned to me! Very cute! Then she went to the Doctors and her throat was very saw and she is now on antibiotics!

Then it was off to the hospital to see the ENT doctor for Emily's ears there was a mix up with appointments! They did see us and Emily has gone on the waiting list even if the Dr thinks she may not need to have grommets! It is a 50% call at the moment we will see the Dr again in 3 months before the Surgery and we will evaluate then what is best for Emily!

We do have a referral to the hospital's ENT department for Alice and her adenoids. She will definitely need surgery!

So all in all a busy day for us and trying to fit work in and around everything has been difficult!

So an early night for me!

A Sizzling Sunday!

Well the day of the week has been Sunday!
Keith yesterday bought a new second hand car and is returning the Kia Rio which he bought this time last year! So instead of finding another $16,000 we own this one out right! Kids are dissappointed as am I however Keith may sleep at nights not worrying how to pay yet another bill!

We picked it up today and haven't driven it yet as it doesn't have insurance! So tomorrow Keith will return the Kia and we will have the car insured!

Then it is on to a busy week of Aiden's birthday! He is yet to choose a cake and I have work to fit in around tired children and a busy week!

Aiden has spent a good part of the day tidying out his room and hopefully with the week starting well it will continue to be a productive week!

The weather today was fantastic and you wouldn't know winter is just around the corner!

It has been a lovely day somewhat busy and it looks like Sundays are always like this!

This evening we sat in the dark with our candles flickering!
The kids were great Emily and Alice went to bed in the dark with their 25 watt light bulb on dim! And they were worried!
We played cards and I burnt myself on the candles! We have ensured they are all out and now we are going to snuggle then off to bed! Hope you did something to mark the day! we voted! We turned off all bar 1 light and all appliances that weren't required!

Fabulous Friday!

Every Friday is Fabulous!

Especially when it is followed by a Saturday!

And the rain is pouring down and it is just the way to start a weekend!

Alice has had a great week and was the peacemaker at Daycare coming between toddlers fighting stepped in between them and said STOP!

Then there is Mr Aiden who is spending the last days of being a 13 year old testing the water and being cheeky! Does it mean we love him less heck NO! We love the fact that he feels safe enough to be naughty and cheeky!
We certainly value and love Aiden with all our being! He makes us laugh and worry and I guess that is nothing new! Always be you!

Miss Emily is still feeling like crap! But she is feisty as ever! And when she had school time out for hitting kids in the playground! Beamed a smile back at me and said time out was FUN Mum! It is a hard balancing act that we have to have. Proud because we like the fact she stood up for self however her violence wasn't the solution!

We love the fact that you change your clothes 95 times a day and love to wear the clothes Mumma puts out and when at home wear all you glam and short skirts! Yes you too will test us on a daily basis as you grow!
But as with that we remind ourselves that each and everyday we are raising adults not babies! And my love you rock!
We love forever and always!

Just like we love all the children and each day surprises us as how much you all have grown into a strong family unit and how you are all so happy to see each other first thing in the morning or after school or after work!

ONLY A MOTHER WOULD KNOW.....

This came into my email tonight and I'm tired and needed to write a post! Perfect timing!

Cup of TEA!One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old.

Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water.

After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.

My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup oftea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!'

My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up.

Then she says,

(as only a mother would know.. :)

'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is

the toilet? :)

Another Sick Day or Sleeping Beauty?

Miss Emily was home from school sick again today and then she said she wanted to lie down! I said lets hop into my bed and cuddle and she declined my offer! I felt very sad ;( I turned around to see her sound asleep on the floor! Very sweet!
Yes sucking her thumb and still so darn cute!

Emily slept on the floor for almost an hour!

That was at 10:30 am this morning!

So another day off work and I think I am coming down with the nasty virus!

Aiden wanted to mention that it is 7 sleeps till his birthday!

Oh Boy I have much to do!

Sick Baby!

Miss Emily has a nasty virus and is coughing up a storm has high fever and generally feels like crap! She had a great day yesterday but last night she went downhill and we were at the Dr by 8:45 am and they said a nasty virus fluids TLC and nasal spray! Well Miss Em hates the nasal spray but is in her bed and it looks like tomorrow will be an at home day and she will be read too and indulged by her Mumma! I must admit Mumma is feeling sore and achy today too! so early night so we can all have a rest!

Otago Anniversary Day!

We spent a lovely night last night with friends! In Fact it was almost early morning! I know that I wasn't in bed before midnight! Thanks Joce, Kelvin Christie and Kate for a great night!
The girls were awake at 7 am as Emily needed huggles so she kindly got her sister out of her cot and they snuggles for 20 minutes!
All very cute then we played games and had beautiful family time! It was great! Then it was off to the Botanical Gardens and a impromptu picnic! It was great! Zara and Jenny arrived and we spent a great autumn afternoon in the gardens I even got a little sunburn!

Friday again!

Well this is a week and a half of ups and downs! Miss Alice has had another ear infection and has had a couple of days off!
Then we had Parent teacher meetings for Emily which went well until Emily was asked to leave the room and that signalled alarm bells! Emily has been hitting and punching and spitting! OMG! It is so hard trying to keep her understanding you can't lash out! Any suggestions are welcome!
Aiden has had a cruisy week!
I have been stressed and had migraines most the week!
So roll on our long weekend! Yeah!!!!!!

Picking up Aiden from School

It is a rare occurrence that I pick Aiden up from School these days as he finishes at the same time as Emily and is on the other side of town! And he normally catches the bus home and then walks about a km to get home!
Today Emily's school finished early for parent teacher meetings!(We had ours yesterday!)
So we went and picked up Miss Alice and drove across town and waited for Aiden to finish the girls were playing outside on the grass!
It was great fun!

Emily and Alice were both dressed in Green today but Alice stayed home and hopefully will be back at Daycare on Wednesday! She has been unwell with Pink Eye and another ear infection! Poor baby but looking at her you can't tell except she has a very green nose!
So I suppose she was keeping up with the theme of today! LOL!
We have had a lovely sunny and warm day here and the girls are in the bath! Aiden has just headed to Choir practise and I am taking 2 minutes to write this! :)
Now I am off to condition the girls hair and wash off the drawings on their bodies! There is always plenty of paper here but both of them prefer to draw on themselves or the furniture! Grrr!

So what is a reasonable bedtime?

What time do teenagers go to bed and why by 9:30 at night am I ready for Keith and My time is it unreasonable to have the girls head to bed at 7:30 and want Aiden to give me my time from 8:30? However he struggles to head to bed before 9:30-10:00 pm and I am absolutely exhausted!

Keith barely sits down before 10 pm and by that stage i am getting ready to head to bed!

Why is it so hard? does it get better? or do I just get used to it?

I am a tired Mummy!
